The Good Samaritan School is a Ministry of

Honduras is a city of approximately 30,000 people. Many are poor and
illiterate. These are the ones that GSS ministries reaches out and
ministers to. The Good Samaritan School is a haven for over 600
students. All are too poor to go to public school, which would require
that they buy a uniform, shoes, supplies, and pay fees. The lives of
these children are being changed for eternity through the gift of a Christian
Education at GSS.
In
1986, one classroom of 40 first graders met for the first time and thus began
a tradition of excellence. The school now educates over 600 students
from pre-K to 6th grade. A secondary education scholarship program also
exists so that, if qualified, students can continue their education beyond the
6th grade. The quality of education is among the best not only in the
community, but in the nation. Our teachers are highly qualified and some
are even graduates of the school. The best part is that besides the
basics of reading, writing, and arithmetic....these children are able to learn
about the saving grace of Jesus Christ every day at school.
The
School is governed by a Board of Directors Both Honduran and North
American. Mission Teams make at least 3 trips yearly and do both
ministerial and service work at the school and in the community of
Catacamas. The gratitude of the students and their families, even
the community at large is tangible. The impact that the school is
having on the community is huge. Former students are now current
teachers, teachers are inspired to further their own education, and most
of all children who once had no hope of a future without poverty are now
striving to become leaders in their community. The School of the
Good Samaritan is truly a light in the darkness...a city on a
hill!
Our
sponsorship program ensures that each child has a uniform, shoes, backpack,
and all necessary supplies. It also covers all school
administration, teachers wages, and all expenses related to the school
itself. The stateside administration of GSS Ministries is completely
volunteer. That means 100% of your sponsorship donation goes directly
to the children's education. The cost of a sponsorship is just
$300.00 yearly. Just $25.00 a month. All sponsors will receive
a picture of their child, a letter or drawing , and a copy of their report
card, annually. A small price for an ETERNAL reward!
